Next B.O.B. Meeting - Tuesday, June 29th 2010 - Beer Revolution - 3rd/Broadway, Jack London Square - 7:30pm
Just had a thought: What if it's raining that week?!
Something to keep in mind, no?
Good think'in IC (especially considering it know feels like we live in Seattle these days).. Perhaps a round up of as many tarps as we can muster from the Oakland Crew (just in case)
BOB OAKLAND 2011 - Notes from June 29th monthly meeting
Band Report: There is a band committee. All band requests have to go to the committee. Several bands have asked people about playing BOB. At this point, since we don't have that many free slots, we're saying "maybe."
This is what I have for a band list so far:
- Previous BOB Bands from UK: Gurkha, 7 Crowns, Restarts, Subhumans and Citizen Fish all expressed interest
- Other Bands from UK: Aheads (from same town as Subhumans & touring with 7 Crowns), Trashcat (Darragh from Restarts), Demon's Helper (Neil from Gurkha), all asked to play
- Previous BOB Bands from Bremen: Nitrous Oxide Wrestling Club expressed interest. We also wanted to ask Apocalypstix, Cross Stitched Eyes
- Other Bands from Germany: Slime
- Previous BOB Bands from Oakland: Fracas, EMG, JFC, Kicker, Sahn Maru want to play. We also talked about either the karaoke band or the Undead Boys or both...
- Other Bands: We're also going to ask Fleas & Lice
- Acoustic Pub Crawl: Bill Collins, Erik Core, others(?)
- Also CYCLECYDE agreed to set up a carnival for the outdoor show! Yay!
Venue Report:
Metro - OK with doing shows there on the 22nd and 23rd at approximately $400/night. Food, film shows, side room bar with tables/chairs bar. Paula waiting for Tom from The Metro to confirm if we can sell a special B.O.B. Beer.
Hazmat - OK with doing a show there on the 20th; Next BOB Meeting July 27th will be at Hazmat/Yer Casa
Merchants - Jesse will talk to them about being part of the BOB Pub Crawl; Maybe a few bands playing their monthly gig during/before B.O.B. Shows
WC Warehouse - Brian hasn't talked to them yet. Concern about size and safe transport to/from warehouse.
Linden St Brewery - still OK with doing shows; working toward an amplified/outdoor permit to ensure no problems during show (nice space and offered superb discount toward beer/kegs). We talked about doing a "test" show there with some BOB bands in the next few months. Dan T. is going to look into that.
Uptown - Brian can help bands set up shows at the Uptown before and after BOB.
Eli's - might be a possibility pending the outcome of being granted a cabaret/amplified music license/permit
We finally formed committees (contact each of these folks for more info - updates from crew reports at monthly meeting to be posted in the comments section on this page);

Show Production: We will break into groups for each show date to organize folks to help out with door/stage/food/clean up/etc; Organize groups during August Monthly Meeting (Aug 31st 2010).
Boat: Jimmy Jazz wasn't at the last meeting, so not sure if there's an update. Dan said he'd also look into it and Marcus Pyrate Punx might be able to help with boat info/costs..

- Kate and I are going to be on vacation, so can someone take notes and email them to everyone on this list? Thanks!!

BOB OAKLAND 2011 -- NEEDS ARTWORK FOR NEW BOB OAKLAND DESIGN -- CALLING ALL ARTISTS
> You can submit your artwork via attached files to thebobfest@gmail.com or send us a link for your web site where you have posted your artwork
>>>> For any artists out there, keep in mind that the simpler the art you submit for T's (without decreasing their BOB coolness) the easier it is to use the design on smaller things like badges, patches, etc.

B.O.B. 2011 VACATION - NEED INFO FROM YOU IF YOU WILL TRAVEL WITH THE GROUP OR BOOK YOUR OWN TRAVEL/SLEEPING PLACES - REPLY BY AUGUST 31st if you will travel with the group to reserve your plane tickets/beach house bedroom (https://sites.google.com/site/thebobfestival/2011/mexico-vacation-2011)
Click on this link to hear this text translated into DUETSCH - http://tts.imtranslator.net/BYCb
WHO?
* We have a list of ~40 people who said they want to come along on the OAKLAND B.O.B. 2011 VACATION
o Everyone planning to come along on the B.O.B. 2011 Vacation please reply by August 31st (or sooner) so we can finalize the number of sleeping places/group flight discounts/van rentals/etc. - Email theBOBfest@gmail.com to reserve your place..
WHEN?
* B.O.B. Vacation Crew depart Oakland on Monday, April 25th 2011 / return to Oakland on Sunday May 1st, 2011
o We are reserving three beach houses for folks staying 6 nights (private bedrooms/shared kitchens/beach front/bbqs/etc)
o Reserve your own plane tickets & sleeping place (shared beach house, Cabanas, hostel, etc) if staying less than 6 nights
WHERE?
* Travel from Oakland to Tulum Mexico or Costa Rica or somewhere similar (warm seas, snorkeling, beach house rentals with private bedrooms/shared kitchens, beach bars/restaurants, Mayan Ruins Tours, zip lines and more).
o We will post the final vacation destination at the end of August/early September (once airlines post ticket prices/sales for April)
HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?
* 6 nights in Tulum or Costa Rica - Flights to/from Oakland, a couple of rental vans for tourist treks/Mayan Ruins jungle trips will cost around ~$1200/each person ($500 flights / $500 7 nights, sleeping places / $200 Food-Van).
o Cost per person based on staying/paying for 6 nights (best to rent your own cabana/hotel room if you only want to stay for a few days). If you are only staying 4 nights and pay for 6 nights, you might be able to find another B.O.B. person to split the costs/days with you for a beach house bedroom.
o Cheaper sleeping places ($20-40/night - bed, sand floor beach cabanas - some with private baths/shared baths) for those who don't want to pay for staying in a shared beach house with kitchen.
* Becca's friend owns a couple of shared beach houses in Costa Rica that would accommodate a large group of us traveling together. We're waiting to confirm cost of traveling to Costa Rica and staying in these shared houses might be cheaper/same cost as Tulum Mexico Beach House/Mayan Ruins Vacation. To be confirmed soon...
* Hawaii Trip was mentioned or an island off the coast of Belize (beach houses with recording studio) but the costs is most likely going to be more expensive/longer flights, than heading to Tulum Mexico/Yucatan Peninsula.
* We'll be able to confirm the final cost for each person once we know exactly how many people are going on holiday together and the all airlines have posted their ticket costs/sales/discounts end of August/early September (hoping to see airline tickets drop to $300/$400 round trip for group discounts).
Looking forward to seeing everyone in April 2011!! - OAKLAND B.O.B. FAMILY
