BATH UK B.O.B. 2013

HISTORY

It all started in the mid-80s when FANG from OAKLAND stayed for a longer time in BREMEN. Afterwards more Americans came over and we all had a good time together. CHRIST ON PARADE went on tour all over Europe in '88 with DIE SCHLACHT, ECONOCHRIST toured together with KNUCKLEHEAD from BATH and members from both bands stayed in Bremen (for awhile longer). So punks from Bremen went often to England in the '90s, friends from BATH visited BREMEN, and as people flew over to OAKLAND the idea of B.O.B. (BREMEN-OAKLAND-BATH) was born as a kind of international punk-community.

The first big gathering was 1995 in Bath at the wedding of Pete & Paula, followed by the first  B.O.B. Festival in BATH '96 (dubbed 'Breaking Borders - Punk Festival - A B.O.B. Family Celebration') and the '97 B.O.B. Festival was celebrated in BREMEN. Not only bands from the three towns came together, befriended bands and people from other cities joined the celebrations.

In '98, B.O.B. came to OAKLAND and 1999 saw only a gathering in BATH without music. 2000 saw the festival return to BREMEN. The festival gave bands the opportunity to tour in the hosting country and further on, with art exhibitions and other events organized throughout several days of celebrations. The idea of B.O.B. was actually adapted by people from Groningen who started the G.I.G. (Groningen - Ireland - Glasgow) and folks from these three cities continued to journey to each B.O.B. Festival.

After some years of rest, it was decided the B.O.B. Festivals shall continue every two years. So B.O.B. was again hosted by BREMEN in '03, back to Oakland in '05 and BATH followed in '07. Last year saw the 8th B.O.B. Festival hosted in BREMEN and was another great festival of friendship, partying and punk rock in all it's different kinds...

And so the story continues with more great memories and good times as we prep for the 2011 B.O.B. Festival celebrations in OAKLAND...
